Accomplishments
AFDEA is a professional association and labor union, advocating on behalf of students and staff in Agua Fria schools at the local, state, and national level. Our accomplishments are through the tireless work of members and our collaborative partnerships across the state, including the Agua Fria Union High School District.

We are in support of the AFUHSD's Bond and Override election to continue the quality education in our district. Register to vote in the November 08, 2023 State General Election.
Participated in AEA's annual Leadership & Growth Summit (Formally Summer Institute)
President Sean Greenwell attended Cartwright's Governing board in solidarity with Cartwright EA's opposition to outsourcing classified cafeteria positions.
2022-2023 School Year
We are currently advocating for the AFUHSD's $5.4 million ADDITIONAL dollars allocated from the Educators Budget approved by the AZ State Legislature to be distributed to staff as soon as possible in our district.

Advocated for the Educators Budget to be passed by the AZ State Legislature which added 1 BILLION dollars in additional funding for the 22-23 SY
2020-2021 School Year
Advocated for and assisted in the construction of a Sick Leave Policy for all staff with HR, Cabinet, & the Governing Board
Successfully represented members with site level concerns
Assisted in negotiating raises and benefits in Meet and Confer
Provided AFDEA masks for all members
Officers participated in a "Budget Analysis" organized by the AEA in November
2019-2020 School Year
Created recommendations and amendments for teacher Pay for Performance Plans which were adopted by Agua Fria High School District during distance learning
Officers participated in "AEA Bargaining for Power" Conference in November
Requested and established quarterly meetings with district cabinet members to discuss site level issues

California Casualty awarded a $1,000 grant to the Desert Edge Tennis Team during DA

We joined over 3,000 fellow concerned educators, parents and citizens at the Arizona Capitol Museum in support of public education in the March to Save Our Schools

Advocated for the passage of Prop 123 to increase distributions from the Arizona Land Trust Permanent Endowment Fund for 10 fiscal years to increase K-12 education spending.
